Happy New Year! 2015 has been off to a great start. Eric and I rang in the new year with good friends and our pups, watched the Panthers win their first playoffs game, and started the house-hunting process again.
As you know, every year I set a few resolutions for myself. You can see 2013 here and 2014's resolutions here. Since I didn't achieve many of my goals from last year, I plan on carrying a few over and making my goals more measurable and attainable with some effort. So without further ado, here are my 2015 resolutions!
Design
Draw Once a Week. I didn't achieve my goal of sketching a once a day last year. I don't want to give up on my goal of drawing more, more I've realized that I can only do so many things daily. This year, I plan on doing a drawing once a week. Something a little more detailed than a quick sketch, but more attainable since I won't have to worry about doing it every day.
Write More About My Work. Last year I had the goal of being more open about my design skills. I'd like to continue this goal with something a little more measurable. This year I plan on writing about a piece of work or my process at least once a month either here or on the NMC blog. Here's to finally kicking that habit of thinking my work is terrible :)
Make More Time for Side Projects. Rarely do I give myself enough time to work on fun side projects. This year, I plan to mark off time each week to work on something that's not work or freelance. The weekly drawings and wedding designing should definitely help!
Personal
Run One Mile a Day. I'm taking a break from distance running for at least the spring, but I don't want to stop running entirely. This year I plan on running a mile every day. An easy distance, but requires effort. I'm currently wrapping up week 5 (I started this goal in November). Here's to hoping the next 47 weeks get a little easier!
Be My Healthiest. I'd like to look back at the end of this year and say I was the healthiest I've ever been. I know that is vague, but I've got a lot of little resolutions that make up this one, such as: stop drinking soda, eat less fast food, cook at home more, add workouts other than running to my weekly routine, drink more water, buy less processed food, and use more holistic and natural medicines and products.
Spend Less on Food, Drinks, and Clothing. This was a goal of mine in 2013 and I kept up with it pretty well. Since we moved to Charlotte however, I've been eating out everyday, buying more drinks since we are walking distance to bars, and frequently buying more clothes despite my lack of space! With a wedding coming up and potentially a new house, my goal is to stop making so many of these purchases.
Blog
Stick to a Writing Schedule. I'm so good at keeping up with a list of topics for the blog, but I usually put them off and they lose their timeliness. This year I'd like to stick to a certain day of the week to write up my posts for that week. I'd also like to attempt to write one blog post a week again (something I failed at in 2014).
That's in for my list! What are some of your resolutions?
